Chevron clothespin holder

I have come to really appreciate line drying laundry.

I made this clothespin holder for my brother and sister in law.

He asked for 'old school' clothespins for Christmas (and I tend to give him Christmas gifts nowhere near Christmastime.) I thought a holder would be handy and make the gift of clothespins more fun.  I like how the chevron and contrasting trim has both a modern and vintage feel to it.

Here are the basic steps to D.I.Y.

Piles and piles

Somehow our laundry pile exploded last week. While I continuously work on it, the pile only grows.

Here is a good mindset to have when tackling multiplying laundry.

Be grateful for the piles of laundry.  It means your loved ones are nearby.

My inspiration for today.

Happy Monday.

Thinking outside the box

In our home, we like to think outside the box.

The concept of thinking about challenges from different angles (with sometimes quirky ideas) is something my husband and talk about often.  In fact, hearing my husband talk about thinking outside the box (when i first met him) was one of the things that sparked my interest in him.

Basically, we are creative problem solvers. Oddly, my husband has been told in the past that thinking outside the box is a negative thing. Nonsense! This shows he is using his creativity.

So, in setting up a playroom for our daughter, we decided to make it a "box room." We have filled the playroom with boxes to encourage open ended play.

I am hoping we can foster the same creative spirit in our children, and encourage them to "think outside the box."

Vintage Dress Form

This week's midweek vintage inspiration is my dress form.

I have been trying to decide on the best working display for millinery. While I overthink the options, I have been using my dress form.

I believe this belonged to my great grandmother.  It is hard to keep clean and certainly aging, but I sure love this piece.

The details inside this dress form make it adjustable.

This vintage dress form has details on the very sturdy base.

Vintage pieces make my imagination soar.  I think of what life was like in the era of the piece.  In the case of this dress form, I imagine the dresses made with it, and the events those dresses were worn.

Happy Wednesday!
